NUSRI secures Jiangsu Province funding for Enterprise-Academic-Research Innovation Platforms
The newly-established National University of Singapore (Suzhou) Research Institute (NUSRI) has scored initial success by securing the prestigious Jiangsu Province Funding awarded to Enterprise-Academic-Research Innovation Platforms. Being the first research institute in Suzhou city to be awarded, NUSRI credits its success to the unwavering support from the Science & Technologies Divisions of Suzhou City, Suzhou Industrial Park, and Suzhou Dushu Lake Science & Education Innovation District.
NUSRI is the first and only overseas research institute of the National University of Singapore’s (NUS). NUS is ranked 23rd globally according to the 2012 World Reputation Ranking by the Times Higher Education, and is ranked 2nd in the recent 2012 Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) University Rankings for Asian Universities.
As the first research institute in China set up by a leading global University, NUSRI strives to add value to Jiangsu Province’s industrial upgrading and economic transformation efforts.
NUSRI intends to focus its initial research efforts and resources on four key scientific research platforms, namely Energy and Environment, Smart Food Processing and Food Safety, Integrated Circuit Design, Test and Applications, as well as Mixed Reality and Interactive Multimedia Research Centre. Through leveraging on NUS’ strong research management and capabilities, NUSRI wants to create a conducive research environment for the platforms to conduct original research and develop independent core technologies, so as to promote local industrial development and technological innovation, bringing about significant economic and social contributions in the long run.
The Jiangsu Science and Technology Department attaches great attention to NUSRI's progress and development. In his recent visit to NUSRI, Mr Jiang Yuejian, Deputy Director of the Jiangsu Science and Technology Department acknowledged NUSRI’s progress and expressed his wish for NUSRI to actively explore new models of collaborative innovation, thereby embarking on the road to sustainable international scientific research collaboration.
