2015 Apeejay Winter Programme
National University of Singapore Research Institute (NUSRI) successfully concluded its inaugural Apeejay Winter Programme on 27th January, 2015. The programme lasted two weeks and involved nearly 30 students and teachers from Indian universities, Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Apeejay Institute of Design, and Apeejay Stya University.
For many of the students and teachers, it was their first time visiting China. NUSRI sought to foster within the participants a greater, personal understanding of China.
Through a holistic programme that combined classroom and onsite lectures, and with equal emphasis on theoretical and practical approaches, the Winter Programme managed to provide insights into the current state of China’s economy, and into China’s storied culture to the programme’s participants. The programme took place within the Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP), a joint project between the Chinese and Singaporean Government that began 20 years ago and has since developed into a technological and economic hub worthy of global attention. Taking full advantage of this geographic location, the program gave students a firsthand look into the economic and cultural forces within this part of China.
Representatives of the Indian universities, Ms. Shruti Chopra said that NUSRI’s Winter Programme greatly benefited their students, and further wished to continue this cooperation, and to bring over more students from India in the future. As the world grows ever more internationalized, NUSRI will continue to seek out opportunities to share its rich educational resources with international students and further promote cultural and academic exchange.
